Stylish self catering holiday accommodation in the heart of the Charente Maritime countryside, easy to reach from La Rochelle and Bordeaux or the ports, Calais, St Malo and Caen. The village of Gemozac also has excellent access to Cognac and the many different beaches.

The self catering apartment is a renovated barn, thought to date back to the 18th Century. It has been restored to the highest standards and mixes simple luxury with many original features. The Barn has uninterrupted views across vineyards and sunflower fields and is part of a small, tranquil hamlet.

The Barn entrance

The Charente Maritime enjoys long hot summers and is said to have the second highest number of sunshine hours in France (after the Cote D’Azur). The village of Gemozac (five minutes drive / easy bike ride away) makes an ideal base to explore the nearby beautiful sandy beaches and historic towns. Cognac is 40 minutes drive away and Bordeaux, La Rochelle and St Emilion can be reached in just over an hour. Beautiful beaches and coves are just 30 minutes away, and there are plenty of opportunities to visit vineyards and Cognac houses in the region.

Facilities at The Barn include bikes, a table tennis table, boules and a 100metre golf practice area. There is a barbeque provided and guests can obtain bottles of the local aperitif, Pineau, from producers 10 metres from the accommodation. Alternatively there are some great seafood restaurants locally and along the coast.
